The Word

from the people who trust us with their grapes.

Petane Wines

We have been making wine with the Hawke’s Bay Wine Company since 2020 and they have helped us achieve high-quality wines everytime.  We make a diverse range from Pinot Blanc to Late Harvest Gewürztraminer and everything in-between. Nothing is too much of a problem, Pieter always had a smile on his face even when I turn up late in the afternoon carting a tonne of shrivelled botrytis grapes for pressing in late June!  Now that’s dedication to making wine and looking after a winemaking customer’s dream, and might I say both the late harvest wines we made in 2020 and 2021 sold out in no time.  I just wish I could make more!  When we were wiped out in the 2023 floods, HBWC straight away offered us free winemaking if we could get some grapes for vintage ’23, which we did manage to do.  This is the measure of the company, great people, with a great attitude and community spirit. Not sure you can ask for any more than that.

Hãhã Wine Company Ltd

The Hawke’s Bay Wine Company is my preferred contract winemaking facility within the region.  We utilise HBWC for a number of processes from full winemaking through to blending and finishing wines.  The team is comprised of experienced winemakers whose involvement in the wines allows clients to rest easy knowing no detail will be missed.  Clients have full access to the site, the wines and the winemaking records.  Compliance and accountability are more important than ever, HBWC delivers on both, giving peace of mind to our admin and management teams. The facility accommodates both large and small parcels.  Equipment is modern and fit for purpose which allows us the ultimate winemaking flexibility.

Osawa Wines

Osawa Wines has been working with Rod since the start of our vineyard in 2007.  His vast knowledge, experience and skill in winemaking has been a contributing factor to what our wines are known for – style and quality.  A true artisan or ‘takumi’ in winemaking.  We look forward to many more years working with the Hawke’s Bay Wine Copmpany.

Te Puia

To say I am impressed with the Hawke’s Bay Wine Company would be an understatement.  They were able to give me tank space at very short notice (two hours before harvest).  They then gave me great service and the personnel were very welcoming and accommodating from the top down.  No complaints.

Maxim Wines

I’ve been making my wine since 2016 at The Hawkes Bay Wine Company, my first two wines I made were Chenin Blanc and Syrah. I’ve added a few wines in the range since then, but my core wines are Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Syrah. My wine batches are small in size with a focus on high quality grapes, and a minimal approach in the winery. The winemakers and cellar staff are all very helpful and understand what I want to achieve with each wine. The winery has a well appointed lab and tasting room, and I can check on my batches remotely using the Vinsight portal which is great round harvest time.

Linden Estate

Nothing too big or too small!  The team at Hawke’s Bay Wine Company are true champions, offering a diverse range of winemaking needs. An amazing and easy to work with winemaking team made every batch so simple to produce for Linden Estate. Brilliant communication and flexibility made the ever changing harvest period very easy knowing we could bring our fruit in to be looked after no matter the size.  Hats off to the team for their hard work.

Responsible Hedonist

We’re a small producer with big ambitions. So when we were looking for a winery, it was crucial to work with someone who could accommodate our needs now and scale with us as we grow and expand. We export, and it was imperative to work with a winery who knew those requirements. Hawke’s Bay Wine Company was recommended to us and ticked all our boxes. They’ve seen us through our first two vintages, and we’re excited to work with them on our third. Their team is really knowledgeable and easy to work with. We make low-intervention wine, and HBWC has been supportive of our creative approaches. We also really like the community atmosphere fostered there amongst the other small producers.
